O'Byrne and Walsh Cups 2013


The 2013 O'Byrne Cup will be played on a League basis with four groups of four teams.

Five Third Level Colleges are included while Kilkenny have opted not to take part.

The O'Byrne Shield competition has been scrapped.

The Walsh Cup will continue as normal but the Walsh Shield competition will be now be confined to the first round losers only.

It's an all Midlands Group C in the O'Byrne Cup with Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Athlone IT paired together

Offaly will welcome Laois to O'Connor Park in the group's opening game on January 6th while on the same afternoon it'll be Westmeath against Athlone IT at Cusack Park

In the Walsh Cup Westmeath open with a home tie against NUI Galway on January 20th with the winners going on to play Kilkenny in the next round

Laois will host UCD while Offaly await the winners of Wexford and DIT



O'Byrne Cup Group C - January 6th: Offaly V Laois - Tullamore, Westmeath V AIT - Mullingar; Jan 9th: Laois V Westmeath - Portlaoise; Offaly V AIT - Gracefield; Jan 13th - Westmeath V Offaly - Mullingar; Laois V AIT- Portlaoise

Walsh Cup - Jan 20th - Westmeath V NUIG; Jan 27th: Wexford/DIT V Offaly, Laois V UCD
