Midlands Simon Community helps people to move out of homelessness by providing a range of supports which enable people to move out of homelessness. Midlands Simon also helps people to overcome the many other issues faced by those who are homeless such as health and welfare needs, poverty, loneliness and isolation.

Tony O’Riordan, CEO, Midlands Simon said “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to show solidarity with some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in our community this Christmas. I would like to sincerely thank Gordon Brett at AIT, Mark Rohan, the Simon Society at AIT and all our supporters and volunteers for their fantastic support with this initiative. Without this type of support, and the goodwill and generosity of the wider community we simply could not survive. It is wonderful to see that the true meaning and spirit of Christmas is alive and well especially in these very difficult times. It goes to show what can be achieved by working together.”

Speaking about the event Gordon Brett, Sports and Recreation Manager, AIT said “Athlone Institute of Technology was honoured to be able to support Midlands Simon Community during National Homelessness Week. AIT is frequently an agent of change in the Midlands, enabling people to fulfil their full potential and improve the quality of their lives. We are delighted to make our facilities available for a truly worthwhile cause. ”
